Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
-
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a skills based therapy that focuses on four main modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. This type of therapy utilizes individual and group sessions to support those struggling with regulating their emotions and behaviors as well as improving their relationships. Our DBT program is certified by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services and includes: 1) weekly individual therapy, 2) weekly skills training group, 3) phone coaching, 4) weekly DBT team consultation meetings. We are dedicated to being trauma, neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ informed. Our program is currently adults only.
DBT covers four main modules
Mindfulness: The focus of this module is to understand why and how to be mindful in a way that works for you. These skills may be helpful when you are struggling with being present and looking to be more centered in your being.
Distress Tolerance: The focus of this module is to learn various ways to manage painful emotions and/or urges. These skills may be helpful if you are experiencing high levels of emotions and you are wanting to build a higher tolerance.
Emotional Regulation: The focus of this module is to name, understand and reduce unwanted emotions. These skills may be helpful to better understand how emotions work for you and how to be more effective in the moment.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: The focus of this module is to better understand our relationships and work on improving the quality of them. These skills may be helpful if you struggle with your communication, setting boundaries or asking for help.
-
For those interested in our DBT program, they will meet with one of our DBT providers for an assessment to ensure they meet certain criteria. During this assessment, the DBT provider will also review what is expected of a DBT member. All DBT members are required to participate in weekly individual and group sessions for the length of the program (one year). DBT members will have access to phone coaching, which will be available outside of scheduled meetings, if they are experiencing extreme emotions and wish to discuss what skills may be useful.

Nutritional Counseling
Nutritional counseling supports you in developing healthy, realistic eating habits to achieve your nutritional and wellness goals. This personalized, collaborative process is tailored to you unique needs, behaviors, and lifestyle, empowering you with the knowledge and tools to build positive, balanced, sustainable relationship with food.
You can benefit from nutritional counseling if you’re looking to:

R&R is home to registered dietitians Jenni Burg and Keri Karst anti-diet, pro-health Health at Every Size (HAES) advocates dedicated to helping clients rediscover joy and trust around food. Through counseling, coaching, nutrition education, and food-exposure support, Jenni and Keri help individuals challenge rigid food rules and unhelpful thought patterns, encouraging them to reconnect with their inner wisdom and body cues—rather than the restrictive rules of diet culture.
Holistic Healing
Holistic healing focuses on caring for the whole person—not just individual symptoms. This approach recognizes that your physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being are deeply connected and influence one another. By addressing all aspects of who you are, holistic healing supports greater balance, harmony, and overall wellness in your life. This multidimensional approach allows for personalized experiences that honor your unique needs, goals, and life context. Holistic practices often work best alongside traditional medical care, offering supportive, complementary tools to help you feel more grounded, resilient, and well.
R&R is honored to be the home of Sherry Strand, a Holistic Health Practitioner, Registered Nurse (RN), Usui Reiki Master, HealthRhythms Facilitator, and Vibrational/Sound Healer. Sherry draws on practices from wide range of disciplines, spiritual, and cultural traditions to support healing for both people and animals. Some of her techniques include:
Reiki — A Japanese energy healing practice in which the practitioner channels universal life-force energy through gentle hand placement on or near the body to help clear energetic blockages and promote balance.
Healing Touch — A non-invasive energy therapy that uses light touch or hand movements near the body to balance and strengthen the body’s natural energy flow.
HealthRhythms® — A research-based group drumming program that supports wellness through guided rhythmic experiences, helping reduce stress, build confidence, and foster connection and community.
Sound and Vibrational Healing — An ancient healing practice that uses specific tones, sounds, and vibrations to help the body “retune” itself. This approach is often used to promote relaxation, reduce stress, ease pain, and support energetic balance.
